Welcome to the West Genesee L.O.T.E. Department

Welcome to the Languages Other Than English web page.

The goal of the West Genesee L.O.T.E. Department is to encourage students to develop the skills of communication in a language other than English.  It is our mission to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of other cultures.

West Genesee students now begin the study of French or Spanish in the 7th grade.  By the end of 8th grade they will have completed Checkpoint A of L.O.T.E study.  Once students enter the high school, they may continue with Checkpoints B and C.  Our course levels are I-V for both French and Spanish.  Levels IV and V are advanced level courses which are optional college level credit.  There is something for everyone!

The L.O.T.E Department encourages student participation in French and Spanish Clubs as well as the WGCSD Culture Fair.

Please check out this web page to see what is going on in the District's West Genesee Languages Other Than English Department throughout the school year.
