West Genesee Social Networking Communications Receive National Recognition

POSTED ON JULY 7, 2012/UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2012

West Genesee Central School District is being recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in the Social Networking and Blog categories of their 2012 Publications and Electronic Media Awards program. Tweets from the Superintendent is being recognized at a merit level; Notes from the Superintendent and the Facebook fan page are being recognized with honorable mentions. Congratulations to Superintendent Dr. Christopher Brown, and Newsletter Editor/Website Coordinator Bonnie Russell for this recognition.

NSPRA's annual Award Programs offer the opportunity to earn national recognition for a district's communication achievements. The levels of recognition awarded are excellence, merit, and honorable mention.

The Publications and Electronic Media Awards contest is open to all public or private schools or districts, including special schools such as vocational-technical institutes; regional or county education service agencies; education agencies; and private businesses serving as partners with those organizations. Entries are judged according to the publication category and type and size of district/organization, so publications compete only against those from similar organizations.

West Genesee Communications Receives State Recognition

Also, the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) recently awarded West Genesee with an Award of Excellence in the Website category, and an Award of Honor for the District E-newsletters. To view a list of all of the winners click here.

Each year, NYSPRA sponsors annual communications awards to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in educational communications. The awards contest continues to be one of the largest in the nation and provides both members and non-members with a time to shine and an opportunity to showcase exemplary communication practices.

Statewide awards provide recognition for outstanding work. They build a greater appreciation for the skills of school public relations professionals and promote a better understanding of the broad range of services rendered by those who have either full or part-time responsibilities for education-related communications.

NYSPRA hosts its annual Awards Luncheon during the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Convention each October.
