The West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council is once again sponsoring a School Supply Drive. The purpose is to provide free school supplies for students in need of assistance who attend any school in the West Genesee School District. Last year the program helped well over 100 families and anticipate the need to be much the same this Fall. Boxes, labeled WGSD School Supply and decorated in blue and gold have been placed all over the Camillus community including the Town Clerk’s Office, Moe’s, Walmart, Tops, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Immanuel United Methodist Church and Camillus Parks & Recreation at Shove Park.

At Walmart collecting

Angela Ponto, and Cassidy Williams.
On Saturday, August 11, West Genesee students collected school supply donations at the Camillus Walmart. Representatives from your favorite sports teams, clubs and organizations helped accept those donations. Some of the most needed items include: new or gently used backpacks/backsacks, twistable crayons, dividers and binders. They also collected glue sticks, pencils, rulers, pens, highlighters, paper and plastic folders, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, hand sanitizer, erasers, and baby wipes. Please contact Jen Hess at 315-200-3469 or Tracy Corcoran at 315-313-2108 with any questions or if you would like to donate after that day.
For those in need of assistance, please email your child’s name, parent’s name, school & teacher’s name to wgschoolsupplies@gmail.com by Saturday, August 18. Every effort will be made to fulfill your child’s list, but supplies are limited. The WGDC PTA/PTO is committed to protecting the anonymity of all recipients and will handle all electronic requests with discretion. The PTA/PTO would like to especially thatenk Store America on Milton Avenue for their generous donation of collection boxes, and we appreciate the commitment of the Camillus community in making this drive successful!
