The District employs about 415 teachers, 135 teaching assistants and 23 administrators at its five elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and District Office. The Teachers/Teaching Assistants/Administrators portion of the Human Resources Department web page provides a variety of resources for these staff members such as the teacher mentoring program, employee contracts, inservice and professional development, child care leave and more.

Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Administrative and Other Job Opportunities

To apply for Teaching Assistant openings, please use the proper application. Please note that all Teaching Assistants must be certified in New York State to be considered for any openings. Possible openings for the following positions will be advertised on our website: superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, supervisors, teachers, guidance counselors, psychologists, speech pathologists, intervention counselors, and other specialized positions.

As a teacher, administrator or other professional you may submit your resume and cover letter (include professional aspirations and philosophy of education plus special experience, training and interests) to the District Office as a general applicant or for a specific job posting. Please check the website periodically as this will be our primary source for administrative/instructional job advertising. There is no paper application for Teachers and Administrators. Applicants should submit cover letter, resume and paper copies of their current certifications.

The Beginning Teacher Mentoring Program

Research indicates that 30 percent of new teachers leave the profession during their first three years of service. Citing studies that demonstrate mentoring can foster a successful first year for a teacher, the New York State Education Department requires each school district to have a mentoring program in place. West Genesee was one of the early pioneers of this initiative establishing an active teacher mentoring program many years ago. For more information on the program, click here.
