West Genesee Middle School students, Ben Paoli and Ava Propper, faced-off spelling such words as "amnesty" and "exonerate" until they exhausted all of the challenge words, so the judges determined them both to be the winners in the West Genesee Spelling Bee held on November 9.
Next Sunday, September 25, 2016 the West Genesee School District and the Town of Camillus will hold the 18th, and final, Annual Race for Respect. The purpose of the race/walk is to promote and celebrate mutual respect, acceptance of responsibility and community among members of our school and local communities. The West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council is once again sponsoring a School Supply Drive. The purpose is to provide free school supplies for students in need of assistance who attend any school in the West Genesee School District. West Genesee residents approved the 2016-2017 budget and bus proposition on May 17, 2016. The $82,227,170 budget received 1,394 favorable votes and 257 votes in opposition. Elected to the Board of Education for three-year terms beginning in July, are incumbents Roberta M. Herron with 1,165, and Karen M. Fruscello with 1,093. New to the Board is Eric A. Bacon with 1,316 votes. Tonya D. Wilson received 793 votes. Thank you to the community for your continued support!
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has announced the results of its sixteenth annual "Best Communities for Music Education" survey, which acknowledges schools and districts across the U.S. for their commitment and support of music education in schools. This is the eighth consecutive and overall eleventh time West Genesee has been recognized for this honor.
Notice is hereby given that the annual inspection for 2015-2016 of the West Genesee Central School District for fire hazards which might endanger the lives of students, teachers, employees therein, has been completed and the report thereof is available for inspection at the office of the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds during normal business hours by all interested parties.
