All West Genesee Middle School students are included on the "W" or "G" team. Mrs. Albanese is the School Counselor for all "W" students; Mrs. Kurz is the School Counselor for all "G" students. The students remain on the same team for their entire middle school years. The team offers both the student and the parent a coordinated support to their academics as your child faces the increased responsibility of the middle level years.

Students are randomly assigned to the teams before they arrive in grade 6. We attempt to keep the same family members on one team, as it makes it easier for the parents to work with the same counselor. The teams are balanced in number, and academic ability of students.

The team is comprised of the grade level core area teachers: English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Reading (grade 6), foreign language (grade 8), and the School Counselor. These teams of teachers meet daily. This time is set aside for coordination of curriculum, student recognition, parent and student contacts and conferences.
