
Principal's Message
Wow, what a great summer! Hopefully both you and your children have had an opportunity to relax and enjoy it! We have been busy getting ready for the school year, and we look forward to having your children join us!
On Wednesday, August 27, we will hold our annual "Locker Day" from 3:30-7:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for all students to stop by and get acquainted with the building. Locker combinations will be available in the front hall on that day and students will have an opportunity to try out their combinations and bring in some of their school supplies. Students who do not attend the Locker Day will pick up their locker combinations on September 3rd in homeroom.
Schedules will be distributed in homerooms on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Included in this packet is your homeroom assignment. Homeroom starts promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Enclosed with the letter sent to your home you will find: Transportation Notification Letter; Transportation Guidelines, Lunch and Breakfast Menus (prices are indicated on the bottom of the menus, breakfast $1.25, lunch is $1.85), Free and Reduced Lunch/Breakfast Letter and Application Form, Student Handbook, District Code of Conduct Summary, Pesticide Notification Letter, School Calander, PTO Information, Extracurricular Program Philosophy, CMS Activity Booklet and the Emergency Cards (please do not separate) which should be returned to your homeroom teacher.
If your child is to be dropped off or picked up at an address other then their permanent residence, be sure to contact the transportation office. Also, if your address or phone number have changed, be sure to notify the guidance office at 672-8381.
Our monthly “News Briefs” will keep you up to date on events both past and future so please review them thoroughly and convey appropriate information to your child.

Just a quick reminder about the summer reading assignment. Please check to be sure your child has read one of the required books this summer. If you need information pertaining to this reading project, you may find it on our website at www.westgenesee.org.
