Library Lending Policies

All materials must be checked out at the circulation desk.

Students may check out a total of five items.

Most books have a three week circulation period and may be renewed for an additional three weeks.

Reference books (such as encyclopedias) circulate overnight only. They may be picked up at the end of the day and returned the next morning before homeroom.

Magazines circulate overnight if they are in a red cover (current issue). Older issues circulate for one week.

Videos circulate for three days.

Students may request that a "hold" be placed on a specific book. When the book becomes available, the student will be alerted via a note sent to the homeroom.

Groups of books on a curricular research topic are often labeled "reserved" while classes use them for assigned projects. Students in those classes may borrow the books overnight by signing the blue "reserved card" in the books for a specific date.

Overdue notices are sent to students in their homerooms after borrowed books are one week overdue. Subsequently, students will receive a notice each week for three weeks for continued overdues. If the overdue item(s) continues to be outstanding, the students will be assigned detention.
