School Safety: A Message from the High School
Dear Parents and Students:
West Genesee High School is an institute for learning. Any compromise to the health, safety, and welfare of our students and staff only inhibits our ability to fulfill our main purpose. As many of you may be aware, an incident occurred last year on the last day of school causing a significant disruption to the educational process by endangering the safety of other students and staff.
As educators, we are looking for your help and support. Recommendations from our faculty and staff to help have been made to the superintendent and Board of Education. A committee of teachers, staff, students, parents, and administrators has also been formed to help communicate recommendations throughout the coming school year. As parents and students, you too have an obligation and responsibility to maintain the primary purpose of our school. Please review together, as a family, the following points of emphasis as they will be reinforced throughout the coming school year (progressive discipline will apply for specific violations ranging from confiscation to suspension):
Speak and act respectfully
Cooperate with all staff
Be on time
Dress appropriately
No cell phones
No electronic devices
No liquids/containers (hallways and classrooms)
I would like to share with you how proud I am of the many achievements of our students at the high school as we remain a model of class and dignity for other Central New York high schools to emulate. Thank you for your continued support of West Genesee High School’s efforts to maintain a safe school environment for everyone.
Sincerely,
Dr. Barry Copeland
