As I begin my seventh year as the Director of Counseling Services for the West Genesee School District I am keenly aware of the department's fundamental belief that students come first. I was given a button several years ago that stated, "Counselors are the Heart of a School".

The West Genesee Counselors are just that. They are knowledgeable and caring in the way in which they work with their students and families.

Studies show that the best counseling departments are collaborative in philosophy. The West Genesee Counseling Department operates collaboratively. We believe that communication with teachers, administrators, and parents, creates an environment of school success for all of our students.

To quote The American School Counselor Association, "a comprehensive school counseling program balances many components: it requires counselors to deliver individual, small group, and large group guidance to teach academic development". The West Genesee Counseling Program excels in all of these areas. It is the Department's goal to continue to be an effective, proactive, resource for students, parents, and staff. The counseling staff works for every student to achieve to their fullest potential and I am proud to lead this fine group of individuals.
