Lauren Navarra, A - Cg Email

Mrs. Navarra earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from SUNY Geneseo and Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Long Island University at C.W. Post. Mrs. Navarra co-coordinates the SAT exam. She enjoys playing an active role in the lives of her students by facilitating career exploration and college preparation, while also providing emotional support and encouragement.

Mary Clancy, Ch - Fn Email

Ms. Clancy has been a counselor at West Genesee for four years. Her approach encourages individuality and recognizes the unique strengths and talents of each student. Ms. Clancy enjoys working with her students to help each achieve their goals. Ms. Clancy is a member of the Professional Development Committee. A National Certified Counselor, Ms. Clancy earned her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education at Syracuse University.

Mark Grier, Fo - Kg Email

Mr. Grier earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics/Management Science from SUNY Cortland, a Masters in Education for School Counseling and a CAS in School Counseling from the University of Buffalo. As Mr. Grier begins his fourth year at West Genesee, he looks forward to helping his students reach the goals they have set for themselves albeit academic, career or personal.

Crystal Best, Kh - Mic Email

Mrs. Best earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Science in Counseling Services from SUNY Oswego. She has worked in the educational field for 17 years and joined the West Genesee High School counseling staff seven years ago. Mrs. Best represents student interests as a member of the High School Curriculum Council and serves on the University of Buffalo’s Advisory Committee. Whether addressing students’ personal, academic or career planning needs, she values the opportunity to serve as their advocate.

Monica Canterino, Mid - Rn Email

Mrs. Canterino is pleased to begin her eighth year as a school counselor. After earning her Master's degree in Counseling Services from SUNY Oswego, Mrs. Canterino counseled in the Finger Lakes area for three years before joining the West Genesee High School staff. One of the most enjoyable aspects of her job is being able to watch students mature both academically and personally as they progress through their high school programs. Mrs. Canterino coordinates the ACT Testing and the junior awards program.

Beverly Hannah, Ro - Tq Email

Mrs. Hannah begins her 21st year in education; the last 18 have been dedicated to school counseling. She never returned to her native Long Island after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Education from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science degree in school counseling from SUNY Oswego. As Mrs. Hannah begins her 7th year at West Genesee, she looks forward to her continued work with students as they "travel the road" to career and personal success.

Kay Merrick, Tr - Z Email

The Department Director, Ms. Merrick, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Student Personnel Services from The College of New Jersey. Her CAS Degree in Administration was awarded from SUNY Oswego. Ms. Merrick's goal as director is to assure that West Genesee students have the best possible counseling and student services to prepare them for "Life After West Genesee High School."
