On December 6, 2023 Michelle Collier was appointed by the Board of Education to the position of Principal at Onondaga Road Elementary School starting on January 2, 2024. She will fill the position left vacant by Jeanette Clark who will retire at the end of December 2023.
Collier most recently has served students at West Genesee High School as an Assistant Principal. Prior to that, she had experiences with leading Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Professional Learning Community (PLC) initiatives and overseeing extended school year programs in West Genesee and Liverpool CSD, respectively.
Her 19 years in elementary education serving as a classroom teacher and an Instructional Support Specialist, provides a foundation of learning, instruction, and assessment that is integral to all components of education.
Additional leadership experiences spotlight Michelle’s involvement and collaboration that has impacted the West Genesee community. She has served as a member of the District Guiding Coalition/Strategic Planning Committee, the Literacy Institute, the West Genesee/Syracuse University Teaching Center Directing Council, and has played an active role in K-6 and 7-12 Curriculum Councils.
Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from SUNY Potsdam and Masters of Arts in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland to support a Pre-K, K-6 Permanent Certification. She earned a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from Le Moyne College that includes certifications in School Building Leader and School District Leader.
On a personal note, Collier shares that her family has lived in the West Genesee District for the past 20 years and loves being a part of the community. Her oldest son, Riley, graduated in 2022 and her younger son, Dillon, is a senior. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, gardening and taking walks with her two dogs.
