 GOVERNOR HOCHUL DIRECTS FLAGS ON ALL STATE BUILDINGS LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF TOMORROW FOR FALLEN POLICE OFFICER

 “I am devastated by the news of the passing of Town of East Fishkill Police Officer Daniel P. DiDato, a 22-year law enforcement veteran who died in the line of duty on December 18 after a motor vehicle accident. Officers across New York serve and protect their neighbors and communities, and we feel this loss deeply. I extend prayers and condolences from all New Yorkers to the loved ones of Officer DiDato.

 “I am directing that flags on all State buildings be lowered to half-staff tomorrow, December 20, in honor of Officer DiDato. We will never forget his dedicated service to the Town of East Fishkill and his fellow New Yorkers.”

GOVERNOR HOCHUL DIRECTS FLAGS TO HALF-STAFF TO HONOR FALLEN TROOPER ROBERT M. BURNEY

 Flags to be flown at Half-Staff on December 14

 Governor Kathy Hochul today announced flags on State buildings will be flown at half-staff on December 14, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of fallen New York State Police Trooper Robert M. Burney.

 “Trooper Robert M. Burney answered the call to protect and defend and spent almost three decades serving his fellow New Yorkers,” Governor Hochul said. “May Trooper Burney’s memory be a comfort to his family, and may his legacy live on in the lives he touched in the line of duty. His loved ones are in our hearts as we mourn their loss.”

On December 9, 2023, Trooper Burney passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. He had retired from the New York State Police after 27 years of dedicated service on January 2, 2017. Trooper Burney was from New Hartford and is survived by his long-term companion, his mother and extended family.

Flags to be flown at Half-Staff on December 12 

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced flags on State buildings will be flown at half-staff on December 12, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of fallen Technical Sergeant Christopher P. Rock.

 “Technical Sergeant Christopher P. Rock was a valiant servant to his family, community and the State of New York,” Governor Hochul said. “Sergeant Rock leaves behind a legacy of service and mentorship that will never be forgotten, and my heart goes out to all of those whose lives he touched.”

 On December 3, 2023, Sergeant Rock passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. He had retired from the New York State Police after 26 years of dedicated service on September 27, 2013. Sergeant Rock is from Kerhonkson, NY, and is survived by his wife.
