Happening at West Genesee on Wednesday, October 4:
So many great things happening before the Lady Cats soccer team faces off against the FM Hornets. We have our Futures Night and many of our student-athletes representing Morgan’s Message. Good luck ladies!
In case you have not seen this information in the media, tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at approximately 2:20 p.m. the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test.
The test will include sending a "test message" to all televisions, radios, and cell phones. All powered on cellphones within range of a cell tower will receive a test alert message as part of FEMA’s nationwide test of its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).
As the test may occur during school hours for some of our buildings, and in some cases coincide with school dismissal time, we wanted to make sure that you are aware of this test. Any notifications specific to West Genesee CSD during this time would come from our SchoolMessenger platform and would be separate from the FEMA test message.
Meet our School Nurses: This Week...Stephanie Skardinski
We would like to introduce you to Stephanie Skardinski who is the District Lead Nurse for West Genesee in addition to her main duty as one of two registered nurses at Stonehedge Elementary School.
She is a Niagara University graduate, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
She started her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital on the pediatric unit for a number of years; she also performed nurse case management for worker’s compensation for 10 years before coming to West Genesee. This is her 12th year at Stonehedge Elementary School.
On a personal note, she has two sons - a senior and a sophomore at West Genesee High School. Her husband, Tom Skardinski is the SPO assigned to Stonehedge Elementary.
In her spare time, she enjoys attending her son’s sporting events as well as spending time with her family. She enjoys going to camp during the summer months up at Chaumont Bay. She is a big ‘Cuse fan as well as a fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants.
