Dear CMS Families,
It was great to see so many students and their families at locker night. Thank you to the PTO and parent volunteers for organizing and hosting our Welcome Back Picnic. It was a great opportunity for students and families to connect and we look forward to welcoming families into the building throughout the school year.
Before our students arrive next week, I want to share some additional information regarding student schedules and procedures we have in place at CMS.
Yesterday student schedules were released. You will notice that the first class is listed as a zero period and is Interaction Time. Student homerooms are attached to their IT home base. Our school day begins at 7:30 AM for all students and attendance is taken in homeroom. Interaction Time is an academic period that all students are required to attend. The time is purposeful. Students are expected to use this period to get ahead on their work and access teachers and support staff for help when needed. It is also a structured time for reteaching to occur on essential skills students need to support their ongoing success and growth.
Arrival and dismissal reminders:
- CMS arrival and drop off is at 7:25 AM. All students enter the building using entrance number 3 located at the top of the bus circle.
- Parents dropping off and picking up at dismissal will pull into the parking lot and line up next to the sidewalk. Please be alert and drive slowly.
- Students who arrive late to school are to enter the building using the main entrance. This is entrance 1 located by the main office.
- Students arriving after 7:30 will check in with the attendance office located in the health office. Students who arrive late without a legal excuse will be marked as tardy unexcused.
- Students are dismissed at 2:05
- If you have to pick your child up early from school, first check in at the main office. You will need to show your license or a valid ID. You will then go to the attendance office to sign your child out.
- Students who have a note from home to leave early should bring the note to the attendance office in the morning.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend,
Principal P
