Dear CMS Families,
We are excited to share with you our plans for this month's Better Together Community Building Friday at Camillus Middle School. Our focus for October is centered around promoting kindness, inclusion, and acceptance among our students.
During morning IT, short videos related to anti-bullying and digital citizenship will be shown to our students. These videos will serve as a foundation for our discussions on promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
One significant part of this initiative is the "Pledge of Acceptance." We will ask our students to make a personal commitment to:
- Support others who have been hurt or harmed.
- Treat others with kindness and respect.
- Be more accepting of people's differences.
- Help include those who might feel left out.
As a visual representation of our commitment to kindness and acceptance, our Interact Club will be creating a "garden of kindness." Students will have the opportunity to write inspirational quotes on flowers, which will then be hung around the school building. This garden will serve as a daily reminder of our collective commitment to creating an accepting, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
We encourage you, as families, to use this as an opportunity to discuss these important values at home. Encourage your children to be "upstanders" and to do their part in promoting kindness and acceptance, not only at school but in all aspects of their lives. These discussions at home can help reinforce the values we are promoting at school.
We believe that together, we can create a more welcoming and accepting community at Camillus Middle School. Thank you for your support in instilling these essential values in our students.
Have a safe and restful weekend!
Better Together,
Ms. P
