Health Office Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As a reminder, please notify the Health Office of any and all student absences or tardiness. You can notify the Health Office of your child’s absence by one of the following:

  1. ParentVue (Synergy) – must be entered in prior to 9:30am

  2. Phone call (315-487-4655). Our voicemail is available 24 hours a day for your convenience.

  3. Email. (cheaphy@westgenesee.org) If you email your child’s teacher, please be sure to email the nurse as well.

If your child is sick, it is most appropriate to keep them home from school. A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread illness to other children and staff. Our school guidelines state that you should not send your child to school if they have any of the following:

  1. Fever of 100 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours

  2. Vomiting in the past 24 hours

  3. Diarrhea in the past 24 hours

  4. Strep throat, or other contagious disease. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

  5. Bad cold, with congestion or bad cough, especially if it has kept your child awake at night.

  6. Pink eye. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

In general, your child should be fever free, no vomiting, and no diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication, before returning to school. If your child becomes ill at school and the nurse and/or teacher

feel your child is too sick to benefit from school and is contagious to classmates and staff, you will be called to pick up your child.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
