Hello Onondaga Road Families,

For a short week, our students have been busy with many great activities. There were so many engaging learning opportunities for our students and it reminds me of how fortunate I am to be a part of this school community.

Our 4th graders are starting their ELA unit on the American Revolution and it just so happens that King George III visited classrooms to collect taxes. As you can imagine, this got the attention of the students and helped them make connections to understand a difficult concept.

Our 3rd graders were treated to a performance by our very own West Genesee string teachers. They played a variety of songs from around the world that highlight the different string instruments. We hope this performance will help get students to interested in playing an instrument next year.

Kindergarten students were treated to a performance of “Mother Goose” by Rev Theater Company. The cast members explained key elements of the play to individual classes and taught them a few songs so they could participate in the performance. The culminating event, the performance of "Mother Goose" for the entire grade level, was a fantastic experience for our students.

Grade 2 students practiced their oral reading fluency and learned about story elements while performing various titles from Mo Willems’ Elephant and Piggy series during their library classes. Students participated in creating costumes for the performance and used various props to make the stories come alive.

Grade 1 had a "Spring Fling" and had opportunities to try all sorts of healthy snacks. Students tried fruits, vegetables, and yogurt to see if they might like something they had not tried before.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Michelle Collier
