Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,
It is with great sadness that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. Aiden Sheaffer, a 10th grade student at West Genesee High School, died unexpectedly this weekend as a result of medical issues. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students, with whom we will share the news first thing tomorrow morning.
Our school’s Crisis Intervention Team is made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students and school personnel at difficult times such as this. At West Genesee High School, we have counselors, social workers, and school psychologists available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance surrounding this loss. We encourage you, as parents, to also feel free to use our resources.
The Child Mind Institute provides information that may be useful to you in helping your child at home. If you would like additional information or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s school counselor to discuss your student’s individual needs.
We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your student moving forward.
Sincerely,
Tracy Klefbeck, West Genesee High School Principal
