Hello WGIS Families,
Hello summer! Summer rolled in and the heat came with it. That did not stop us from having our first annual 5th-grade "Field Days" as we moved the event indoors and did not miss a beat! The week wrapped up with 5th-grade performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream and staff and students sporting summer and Hawaiian wear for our last themed Friday of the school year.
We are not done yet! On Monday we will hold our 6th-grade celebration. This has become an annual culminating event to send our students off to their next adventures! Our PTA has been instrumental in taking the lead for this event. A big thank you to the PTA and to all our parent volunteers and folks who have donated to this celebration.
We started this school year celebrating WGIS and our students and that is how we are closing. I am so incredibly proud of the collective effort that has been put in to bring us where we are! That is a wrap for the school year and for my time here. With that said, I am excited and confident in what lies ahead for WGIS and West Genesee. I'm proud to say that I have spent the majority of my educational career at West Genesee! WE ARE WGIS! It is a great day to be a WILDCAT!
Best Wishes,
Michael McGrath
